Grundlsee Fairytale View

Grundlsee_webcam_1 Grundlsee_2 Talk about beautiful - look at the view from the Grundlsee webcam in Austria. From what I can glean from some travel sites on the web, Grundlsee is a little town in the middle of Austria, right at the center of the "Styrian Salzkammergut" or the lake district around the salt mine area. According to one site I visited the population of this tiny town is 1,200. Approximately 56 miles from Salzburg and 240 miles from Vienna, this village overlooks a lovely lake of the same name. Evidently, the word 'see' means 'lake' in German. One thing is for sure, this looks like a picture out of a fairy tale. When I was just out of college, I went to Europe for 6 weeks and once place we visited was Salzburg. This reminds me of the beauty of that area.

Flamingo Cam at DC Zoo

Flamingo_cam_1 I love flamingos. I have been enamored of them since I first saw them as a kid - probably in an illustration from Alice in Wonderland. Here is a great streaming video cam from the National Zoo in Washington DC showing these beautiful birds in action - it's the flamingo cam. I wish I could put it up in a little corner of my computer and just watch it all day long.

Niagara Falls

Niagrara_falls_cam I had a chance to visit Niagara Falls last week - taking a little side trip while in Toronto for business. Niarara Fall is someplace that I have always wanted to visit and it was even more spectacular than I had imagined. The highlight of the trip was getting a close up view of the falls by taking a ride on the Maid of the Mist. Now that's a boat ride that will stick in my mind forever. It was an amazing way to see the falls. Great views of the falls can be had from other Niagara cams  including the Niagara Hi-Res cam, and the Edge of the Falls cam. You can also check out the Niagara River cam or even listen to the falls when you visit. Maybe while you are at it you will decide to see the falls in person and book a room at the Sheraton Fallsview, the hotel that provides access to the images from these great cams. We didn't stay there overnight - having just taken a day tour - but we did eat at the Fallsview Restaurant overlooking the falls and enjoyed every minute of it.

Lake Superior

Lakesuperiorcam This Lake Superior webcam is part of the EarthCam's MetroCam Network.  The cam provides a nice sharp live image from the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. "The biggest, coldest and cleanest of the Great Lakes, Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake, by surface area, on earth. It holds enough to fill all the other Great Lakes with plenty to spare. Lake Superior's deepest point is 1,332 feet." It looks pretty cold to me.

Cool Flowers

Flower_cooler_cam_2

Flowers anyone? This flower cam tells the tale of flowers fresh from the cooler located in a retail store in St. Paul, Minnesota. It's a large walk-in fresh flower cooler and if you are lucky you can catch a customer selecting some beautiful blooms. The store also has two G-scale trains travel over 300' around the store and according to the cam info, the train can occasionally be seen going through the cooler on the upper-right side of the image. I've never seen the train although I have seen customers come and go. The Flower Cam image updates every 10 seconds during store hours. It's definitely unique and well - it's very peaceful too. So stop and smell the virtual flowers.

College Computer Lab

Maxeycomputerlab

It's lonely sometimes, studying in the computer lab when everybody else seems to be out having fun. Take heart, maybe they're all really just at the laundromat or stuck in their dorm room slaving away on some paper. There are 4 camera views currently available from Whitman College. This computer lab cam at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington gives a view of one quiet corner of student life at the college.
Maxeycomputerlab2

Students come and go and sometimes, maybe spending a few minutes in the computer lab isn't so bad at all.
